Lemon Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup jeera rice

  • 1 Lemon juice

  • Salt, to taste

For tempering

  • 2 tbsp Oil

  • 3 Red chillies

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 4-5 curry leaves

  • 1 tsp hing

  • 2 tsps Chana dal

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice till the grains are separate but cooked well

  2. In a pan, add the oil and splutter mustard seeds

  3. Add the chana dal and sauté till it becomes light brown

  4. Add the chillies, hing and curry leaves and sauté for a minute

  5. Add the lemon juice, 1 tbsp water and salt and mix well for a minute, switch off the gas

  6. Add the rice and mix well

  7. Best served with fried papad
