Eggless Bournvita Cookies

Bournvita has good childhood memories for a lot of us, but I never liked milk when I was younger and hated bournvita in my milk. I recently bought tiny bournvita sachets from India on my last trip, thinking I would start drinking milk but as expected I just could not continue. So I decided to try some new recipes, and if these are not so unhealthy, then why not?

Prep Time: 1 hr 15 mins

Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 100 gms Whole wheat flour

  • 50 gms Oats

  • 50 gms Bournvita

  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda

  • 75 gms Butter

  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence

Instructions

  1. Powder oats and bournvita to a coarse powder (bournvita only to powder the lumps)

  2. In a mixing vessel, whisk, wheat flour, bournvita, oats powder, baking powder and soda well

  3. In another bowl, add butter and sugar and beat it well till it becomes creamy

  4. Add vanilla essence and mix well

  5. Gently fold in the dry ingredients and mix to form a dough (if it is too thick, add milk)

  6. Cover in a cling foil and refrigerate for half hour

  7. Make equal size balls and line them on a greased baking tray

  8. Make a cross slit with the knife on them and bake them in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 10-12 minutes, till you start getting the aroma of bournvita
