Sooji & Poha coins

This is a very nice and tasty breakfast dish.. very easy to make and extremely healthy to eat a plateful..


Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Poha

  • 1/3 cup semolina

  • 1/2 cup Curd

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves

  • salt to taste

To temper

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  • 1 tbsp gunpowder (molgapodi)


Instructions

  • In a wide bowl wash the poha well and soak for 2-3 mins

  • Drain the water and add this back to the bowl

  • Add in the semolina, salt, curd, coriander leaves and mix this mashing it well

  • Make small balls (1 tbsp size), press this gently to make it like a coin

  • Steam these for 10-12 mins

  • In a pan, take oil, splutter mustard, cumin and sesame seeds till they splutter

  • Add in the gunpowder, adjust salt and add the steamed balls

  • Saute it for 2-3 mins till the balls get coated with the tempering

  • Have hot with tomato sauce or chutney of your choice
