Eggless Oregano and Cheddar Scones

This is a very tasty breakfast dish. Plain scones with cheese and butter are generally had with a jam topping. This can be had by itself due to the spices.



Prep Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 15 mins


Ingredients

  • 225 gms maida

  • 1 tsp Baking powder

  • 1 tsp Pepper powder

  • 50 gms Cold butter

  • 100 gms + 2 tbsp for garnish Grated cheddar cheese

  • 2 tbsps + for garnish Dried oregano

  • 100 ml + for brushing Curd

  • 50 ml Water

  • salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp Chilli flakes or spicy mustard powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix maida and baking powder well

  2. Add salt, chilli flakes/mustard powder, pepper powder and mix well

  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture kneading it so that it gets incorporated well

  4. Add the grated cheese and mix well

  5. Mix the yogurt and water well

  6. Make a “well” and add the yogurt-water mixture. Knead well to make a smooth spongy dough.

  7. Roll this into a 3 cm paratha

  8. Cut it into 8 quarters

  9. Brush with little yogurt-water mixture, top it with cheese and oregano

  10. Line them in a greased tray and bake them for 13-15 mins in a 190 degree preheated oven or till the crust is light brown

  11. Serve warm with butter for breakfast
