Methi Matar Malai

This gravy is an extremely tasty dish that is best had with rotis. The combination of methi leaves with milk is delicious!

Cook Time: 30 mins



Ingredients

  • 3 cups Finely chopped methi leaves

  • 1 and 1/2 cups Frozen peas

  • 1 cup Milk

  • Salt, to taste

  • 2 tsps Garam masala

  • 3 tbsps butter

  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

To saute and make the paste

  • 1 Onion

  • 1 inch Ginger

  • 1 Garlic

  • 3 Green chillies

  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts

  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

Instructions

  1. In a pan take 1 tbsp butter and saute the chopped methi leaves until it shrivels, keep aside

  2. In the same pan take 1 tbsp butter and saute all the ingredients under "saute and grind"

  3. Saute till the raw smell goes way, grind all ingredients in a blender to a fine paste without adding much water

  4. In a pan take the balance 1 tbsp butter and add the paste, saute for 5-7 minutes till it leaves an aroma (note that this should be done on a sim flame so that it does not burn)

  5. Add the methi leaves, salt and water and cook for 5 minutes

  6. Add garam masala, frozen peas and milk and cook till well blendes (I added paneer cubes as well)

  7. Serve hot with rotis
